is the true story of best friends playing music together who formed out of spontaneity and chance. Combined with the creative environment they were surrounded by and their vibrant neighborhood filled with eclectic musicians, it was not only conducive for but also created a natural transition to play music together and form a band. The Oh Darling kids make music together simply because it is the natural thing for them to do.

All from the thriving music city of Portland, Oregon, Oh Darling are Jasmine Ash on vocals and keyboards, J.Marie Hall on bass, Daven Hall on guitar, and Jake Endicott on Drums. Jasmine had been singing and playing keyboards/guitar as a solo artist for six years prior, while the Halls were both bass players for a significant amount of time. Jake had developed himself as a drummer for over ten years, playing in another band called Jonah, prior to joining Oh Darling in early 2008.

Playing music for years and their immediate chemistry allowed Oh Darling to come to fruition. It began with a conversation of the idea to write and play music together between Jasmine and J.Marie at a wedding. A few days and a few glasses of wine later, they had written four songs. “ The good ones, at that!” JMarie proclaims. Jasmine moved in with JMarie and Daven soon after, thus convincing Daven to switch to guitar, which led them to play together for the first time in late 2006. It only took one practice to unanimously agree they worked very cohesively, “… it just felt right,” Jasmine says, “We knew we had made the right combination.”

Influenced by bands such as The Pixies, Blondie, and Built to Spill, Oh Darling really is a darling band with a diverse background. By not following a formula, they write sweet, simple, unforgettable and straightforward pop songs with endearing melodies. It is also in their favor that they perform with matching outfits, possess adorable good looks and quirky personalities, while delivering an irresistible, memorable sound.

The music of 23 year-old Tim Myers is becoming a genre in and of itself. And with six recognizable tracks in over ten National Campaigns including TARGET, SATURN, ABC TV, and JC PENNEY, Myers has already gained a prominent presence in American Households. It’s nearly impossible to turn on a TV and not hear the catchy, endearing, downright addicting melodies and hooks of the Southern Californian singer/songwriter.

Myers’ soon-to-be-launched debut solo album will have its pick from over one hundred and fifty tracks, which he has compiled in the last year. Recently, iTunes release of Myers’ “The Good Life EP” was highly successful in presenting his carefree tunes, “A Beautiful World” and “The Good Life” .

One of America’s most popular retailers, Target, widely praised for it’s artistic television ads, chose the music of Tim Myers to represent six nationwide commercials. “A Beautiful World” aired in Target’s 2008 ‘Design For All’ Campaign and Myers’ vibrant track, “Brand New Day featuring Lindsey Ray” is currently featured in a series of 5 unique commercials for the well-known retailer. Auto manufacturer, Saturn currently aired three national commercials featuring “The Good Life” .

Myers’ music has also been licensed by various TV shows and films such as Hotel For Dogs , The Waterhorse: Legend Of The Deep, ABC’s Greys Anatomy, Private Practice, The CW’s One Tree Hill, and Lifetime’s Army Wives, along many others. Myers’ songs have also contributed to the production of various independent films. Tim Myers has impacted the television world like no other independent artist in history.

Music has been the driving force for Tim from a very young age. Being compelled by piano at age five, guitar and bass were introduced to him shortly after. At eighteen, he joined the Platinum selling band OneRepublic. Myers entered the studio with the group, writing and performing on their debut record, “Dreaming Out Loud” , prior to leaving the band a few years later to embark on his solo career. Writing credits for the OneRepublic record include the Billboard hit single “Stop and Stare” as well as “All We Are”, “Someone To Save You”, and “Prodigal”.

A true songwriter and visionary, Tim Myers does more than write ‘good’ songs. He creates synergy between him and the listener by evoking intimately warm, fresh and cheerful emotions. He finds influence in music’s greatest songwriters; John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and Bob Dylan. By also seeking inspiration from The Beatles’ catchy melodic rhythm and lyrics, a touch of The Beach Boys-esque harmonies, while infusing his own modern twist, Myers has introduced a unique style of songwriting to the world. While he has become known for his encouraging messages and explosive choruses with tracks like “The Good Life” and “Brand New Day” , Myers also reaches deeper with songs such as “I Can’t Go On Living Without You”, “Remember When (featuring Schuyler Fisk)” and “This is Love”. Although these tracks have yet to receive as much recognition in advertisements and television, they clearly have the power to connect with people on an organic and human level. A writer and poet, Myers also often finds inspiration from America’s most prominent authors and poets like Charles Bukowski, T.S. Elliot, C.S. Lewis, George Orwell, and Ralph Waldo Emerson. ,

While major record labels and music companies are now making significant amendments to their business models to appease the rise of unsigned artists through the digital movement, Tim Myers has unintentionally paved a new path for all unsigned artists. His exposure has been amplified by television and film, similar to the way radio has been a driving force for the major label artist.

Aside from working on his own music, he continues to produce, write and collaborate with several other noted artists such as Tyrone Wells (Universal/Republic), Lindsey Ray (Original Signal), Days Difference (Universal/Motown), Mozella (Universal/Motown), Mitchel Musso (Disney), Schuyler Fisk (Independent) among many others.

With his notable success and consistent yet unique songwriting, Tim Myers will continue to make a strong impact as an artist in the constantly evolving music industry.

His EP has already sold over thirty-five thousand copies to date and his debut single ‘Prisoner’ from the unreleased LP titled ‘Beauty Killer’ debuted at #60 on itunes’ Alternative Rock chart as well as receiving 3 million plays within the first three weeks of hosting the track on his myspace page. Also working diligently on Peggs’ most recent signing, Hockey, who was hitting festivals in the United Kingdom as well as Bonnaroo Festival. Hockey has been receiving airplay over specialty radio, Radio 1, UK Radio as well as several reviews and recommendations on influential websites such as Absolutepunk.net, strikegently.com, and others as well as write ups in Billboard, NME and others.

It was during this time, October 2005, that the conception of the HELLYA! club nights came to fruition with regular nights at the Echo in Los Angeles. Soon after, Heather began conceiving the notion of HELLYA! beyond club nights, as a lifestyle/music collective, which included HELLYA! Records, a blog (www.hellyadeejays.com), Podcast (http://www.hellyadeejays.com) and Management. Since then, HELLYA! club nights have expanded to Spaceland, Hotel Café, The Roxy, The Derby and The Viper Room.

“There will be an evolution in what I do all the time.” -Felix Cartal

Felix Cartal may be one of the most innovative DJs to enter the scene; at only twenty-one years old his mark on dance music is already impacting young(er) producers, before leading his own tour. In a world of heavy, hard-hitting bangers, Cartal is developing music of this genre into a more complex and theoretical form, revolutionizing the way dance music is created, “Felix Cartal is part of a new breed of young producers taking elements of his contemporaries and making a massive sound in his production,” Steve Aoki, Founder of Dim Mak Records. Knocking down boundaries of expectations and changing perspectives, Felix stands alone in his uniqueness of producing dance tracks; never steering from the melody, he lays certain elements from modern productions, adds meticulously chosen tracks combed together to develop explosive versatile music.

An relentlessly solid worker, the young and clever Taelor Deitcher, born April 9, 1987 has opened for artists like MSTRKRFT and Justice, while working towards obtaining a degree in English from the University of British Columbia, and released his debut EP SKELETON on Dim Mak Records in April 2009. The EP’s four tasty tracks; “Skeleton,” “Salty Lake,” “Montreal Dreams” and “Redheads” showcases Cartal’s inventive style by his methodology altering standards of not following traditional heavy house formulas, but by using unique frequency variation and low points in sections to create melody driven heavy bass line distortion dance music. (Young producers and fans may find documented production steps on www.felixcartal.com)

Felix began his quest to achieve expertise in production in a campus studio in Vancouver while in high school, where he first observed the method of producing and mixing. By fifteen, not only was he learning from these engineers but he also began actively producing his own music. Cartal pulled from his vast, diverse library of influence ranging from his parents taste in the classics (The Beatles, Supertramp, Steely Dan, Elton John), his teenage love for Southern California punk rock (NOFX, Lagwagon), his soon after acquired taste for harder punk styles (The Blood Brothers, Red Light Sting, Lightening Bolt) and eventually dance artists such as James Holden and Alter Ego. However, it was the experimental blend of rock and electronica of Radiohead’s Kid A that marked a pivotal transformation of Taelor Deitcher to Felix Cartal, when he realized “I can pull my punk rock upbringings and push this harder edge in a club into music I wanted to make for the dancefloor.” The dark aesthetics of Kid A, the emphasis of melody in James Holden of Border Community combined with the exposure of tracks like Daft Punk’s “Rollin’ & Scratchin’” pounding heavily from full systems in clubs that truly inspired Felix to translate bass lines into developing a fresh approach to dance floor electronica.

Through his defined style and ability as a producer, Cartal is exploring a world in a different realm than others in his field. As a firm believer in the simplicity of production and the capabilities of software as key facets, Felix uniquely writes all automation and melodies by hand. Among a new breed of young artists, his production is developed with layers and layers of multifaceted elements, which further expand in complexity each time the tracks are heard. Cartal has been fortunate to surround himself with producers he looks up to and is dedicated to providing a resource for aspiring producers as an insight into his process of producing and creating music. (www.felixcartal.com)

Felix’s distinctively inventive style is apparent in original tracks like “Moss Vs. Trees,” “Parisienne,” and “Vancouver” in addition to notable remixes of MSTRKRFT’s “Bounce,” Dragonette’s “Take It Like A Man,” and DJ Alan Hostage’s “Gluttony.” He is also recognized for his fresh approach to pop remixes, especially on tracks such as Ashlee Simpsin’s “L.O.V.E,” Brittney Spears’ “Outrageous,” and “Madonna’s “Hung Up” For his first tour, Cartal had the incredible opportunity to play out these tracks opening for one of his favorite artists MSTRKRFT last year, who have been very supportive of his development. Cartal’s reputation of high energy performances and attracting other fan bases into his own by feeding from the audience’s satisfaction has garnered him a reputable place on stage with MSTRKRFT, Justice, Steve Aoki, Busy P, Vitalic, Felix da Housecat, Richie Hawtin and others.

With a proper home at Undocumented Management and Dim Mak Records, Felix is thrilled to have such experts pursuing his music at every length. Fans can expect more dates with MSTRKRFT in the US, Canada and Mexico, SouthXSouthwest in Austin, Texas, Winter Music Conference in Miami Beach, Florida, Asia and Europe and a slate of remixes this year.

His debut EP SKELETON is available now on Dim Mak Records.

It is not a mystery why the Recording Business and the Music Industry as awhole has been suffering tremendously – we have moved away from the old model of the business where marketing and sales have been done traditionally. Creative Works originated from the very nucleus of this issue, from two minds who not only have backgrounds from one of the most important Music Schools in the Country but also have been working in all aspects of the industry in one way or another. Through their experience, they and have been observing the faults and positives while focusing on the changes where the strengths would show – digital music sales and new models for online marketing.

Co-Founders Julie Shama and Thomas Hillard are not strangers to the business nor to the concept that ancillary income and opportunities outside of traditional recorded music is where the considerable amount of income for artists come from in today’s time. A Berklee College of Music Graduate and a full-time activist of artist development, Julie Shama has fashioned up quite a name for herself operating truly underground.

With many discussions on the changing music industry and while Julie has been successfully managing deals for her clients through TV and film licensing, Julie and Tom agreed artists could make more and market themselves for much less online, thus in turn make higher returns on their recordings for digital record sales. The two of them reconnected while both living in Los Angeles and decided it was time to develop a new independent “record” company.

And thus began Creative Works Records in 2008. Creative Works is a movement toward the new, innovative way of doing business. It’s unique structure and dedication to grass roots artist development paves the road for the Label to thrive in the new music model by driving artists to a creative environment they can succeed in. Their goal is create career artists, not just novelty acts that some of the other labels are signing these days.

By not depending on recorded material to garner sales for their artists/writers and bring them to success, Creative Works is mainly a digital label, which also utilizes Burnside’s distribution services for necessary physical releases. They seek out and provide opportunities that have consistently driven independent artists to success, such as Motion Picture/Television Placement, Web and Blog attacking, Myspace developing, Public Relations, promotions, sponsorship, tour sponsorship, and lastly management, which has been Julie’s area of focus for the past few years.
